At Weston College, our mission is simple: Creating Brighter Futures. We’re one of the fastest-growing Colleges in the UK, and we know that education is about much more than qualifications alone. That’s where our Personal Development Tutors come in.
Why this role matters
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and guide the next generation. As a Personal Development Tutor, you’ll help students develop the skills, confidence, and mindset they need to succeed - not just in college, but in life.
You’ll bring the College’s STEPS framework to life:
- Skills - building confidence, communication, and employability skills.
- Topical Points - exploring real-world issues that matter to young people.
- Engagement - getting students involved in events, workshops, and enrichment activities.
- Progression - work with our careers and employability coordinators to support learners to move on to university, apprenticeships, or skilled work.
- Self-Management - empowering them to take ownership of their goals and future.
We have one position available: 25.5 hours per week, term-time only.
What you’ll be doing
No two days are the same. One morning you might be delivering a group tutorial session on digital wellbeing, and in the afternoon helping a student secure their first work placement. Later in the week you could be working with colleagues to plan new and innovative ways for their learners to develop life skills and knowledge.
You’ll be a trusted guide for students, working closely with curriculum teams and support staff to make sure every learner feels motivated, supported, and ready for their next steps.
Who we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience working with young people or adults in an education or support setting.
- Aware of issues shaping learners’ lives and work today.
- Understand the challenges young people face as they progress through education and into work.
- Are organised, motivated, and able to engage and inspire others.
Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.
