Weston College is currently transforming a new training facility dedicated to advanced manufacturing and engineering skills and have multiple exciting opportunities to join us as a Lecturer in Engineering - Machinist. We have two full-time roles available, each working 37 hours per week, however we would also welcome applications from those seeking to work on a part-time basis. Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare. From September 2026, this role will be based at Weston College's new Aerospace & Defence Skills Academy, based at Airbus Filton in Bristol.

A temporary Recruitment and Retention Premia of Β£2500 per annum is attached to this post, which is a separate payment in addition to the normal salary. A review of market conditions will be carried out 6 months prior to the proposed end date (two years from the date of commencement) to establish if the Recruitment and Retention Premia should continue. Further information on Recruitment and Retention Premia payments is available on request.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Level 3 Engineering qualification.
  • Significant, relevant employment within the Engineering industry.
  • Working Knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems
  • Programme Logic Controllers (PLC's)
  • Sheet metal fabrication
  • Machine Shop Manufacturing
  • Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programming
  • Composites Manufacturing
  • Computer-aided Design / Manufacturing (CAD / CAM)

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Practical and theory-based lessons.
  • Tutoring students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards.
  • Meeting targets, with reference to student progress, attendance, and retention upon programmes.
  • Providing information, advice, and guidance to students in their progressions to either employment and/or other courses within the College.
