Weston College has an exciting new opportunity for an Internal Communications Officer to create high-quality content, support key organisational projects while ensuring our messaging is consistent, accessible and aligned with our organisational priorities. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week. Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll help to deliver timely, engaging and accessible communications that keep our staff and students informed and connected. You’ll create content, support key projects, maintain internal channels and play an active part in enhancing the overall communication experience across the College. Some key duties include:

  • Drafting, editing and publishing content across channels such as SharePoint, newsletters and Emails.
  • Creating engaging written and visual content, including basic digital and video assets.
  • Contributing to communication plans and maintaining content schedules to support editorial planning.
  • Maintaining and improving internal communication channels, monitoring engagement and sharing insights with the wider team.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who brings strong communication skills, attention to details and a proactive approach to supporting the internal messaging across a busy organisation. You’ll be confident working with different teams, able to juggle deadlines, and keen to develop your skills as part of a collaborative communications function. You’ll bring:

  • A degree-level qualification in Communications, Marketing, PR or a related field or equivalent professional experience (A Level 3 qualification alongside substantial experience will also be considered).
  • The ability to collate, analyse and interpret data in order to support continuous improvement.
  • Strong written communication and proofreading skills, with the ability to tailor tone and content for different internal audiences.
  • Solid digital skills, including the use of Microsoft Office application and Adobe Creative Suite.
