This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week.
You will support the delivery of NEET and Engagement programmes, while completing the Level 5 Learning and Skills Coach Apprenticeship.
This role will have a particular focus on Maths.
The role combines classroom support, small group delivery, learner mentoring and student engagement activity, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become an effective Learning and Skills Coach within Further Education.
The post holder will work under the guidance of experienced teaching and support staff and will be supported to progressively build confidence in teaching, coaching and supporting learners who are disengaged from education or at risk of becoming NEET.
Day to day duties of the role include
- Support lecturers with the planning and delivery of lessons within NEET and engagement programmes.
- Deliver small group and one to one learning activities under supervision, progressing to greater independence over time.
- Support learners to develop employability skills, confidence, motivation and positive learning behaviours.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching and learning resources.
- Required skills and qualifications
- Experience of working with young people.
- Experience of delivering education, training or targeted interventions for disengaged learners.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities for children and young people in an education setting.
- Ability to build effective relationships with learners, parents or carers and colleagues.
- Ability to work flexibly across college sites and outreach locations.
