The college is seeking to appoint a SEND Lead, to lead and oversee specific support for a caseload of students with SEND, particularly those with EHCPs. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week. Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare. As a SEND Lead, you may be based at any of our Weston-super-Mare campuses.

Day to day duties of the role:

  • To line manage a group of LSAs, overseeing their practice, development and progression.
  • Completing appraisals and ensuring on-going monitoring of performance.
  • To effectively allocate LSAs to meet student need; providing accurate timetables to ensure efficient use of resources across all curriculum activities.
  • To support the effective use of digital resources and assistive technology wherever possible, to ensure that all students develop their independence over time.
  • To liaise with teaching staff, academic managers and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to student support at all times.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • SEND or SpLD qualification at a minimum of Level 2.
  • Experience of supporting young people with SEND and/or additional learning needs.
  • Experience of managing a busy workload in an education setting.
  • Able to organise and prioritise workloads and activities, meeting deadlines in a timely manner.
