WestonBrook Associates are working exclusively with a well-regarded and growing Essex-based accountancy practice to recruit an Accounts & Tax Senior into a pivotal role at the firm. The firm supports a broad and varied client base of mainly owner-managed businesses and SMEs. The practice places a strong emphasis on high standards, long-term client relationships and flexible working, and uses SAPA for statutory accounts and tax alongside cloud-based platforms including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.
This opportunity would suit an experienced all-round practice accountant looking for a pivotal role with portfolio ownership, sitting comfortably between senior management and junior staff.
The Role
- As Accounts & Tax Senior, you will take primary responsibility for a portfolio of OMB and SME clients, delivering high-quality accounts and tax compliance work.
- The role has a strong focus on personal tax and is hands-on across compliance, reporting and team support.
- You will work closely with senior management and provide guidance to junior staff, ensuring all deadlines and statutory requirements are met to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing and preparing personal tax returns — a core element of this position
- Preparing statutory accounts for a diverse portfolio of owner-managed and SME clients
- Producing and reviewing monthly management accounts for clients upon request
- Supporting and overseeing the work of junior team members
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, building strong and lasting relationships
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar all-round general accounting practice role
- Solid background servicing the accounts and tax requirements of OMB and SME clients
- Strong personal tax knowledge with confidence reviewing self-assessment returns
- Well-organised, technically capable and confident dealing directly with clients
- Must reside within approximately 20 minutes of Leigh-on-Sea
