Hours: 23 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Selside is a very special place to learn, and where we see each day as a learning adventure. We are situated just off the A6, only a short drive from Kendal and have the most amazing grounds, including a wild life area and stream, a large playing field and an outdoor classroom. We are seeking to appoint a hardworking, flexible and enthusiastic Small Schools Business Manager to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a permanent role The role is to start at 8.30 every morning but the hours worked each day can be negotiated. The role includes responsibility for the areas of finance, health and safety, personnel and premises. School experience is desirable but not essential.

Successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • have the skill to manage a busy office, prioritising and managing workload and a variety of tasks
  • have a ‘can do’ mentality with a desire to overcome challenges that arise.
  • have excellent interpersonal skills, whether meeting parents each morning, dealing with telephone calls and correspondence, or presenting financial and other key information to leaders and governors
  • have some relevant finance/business experience
  • Have excellent ICT skills and familiarity with Microsoft packages. Experience of dealing with pupil and staff data on a school information management system would be an advantage.
  • work well as part of a team, be able to work under their own initiative and be committed to improving and developing their own practice

Short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a criminal record self-disclosure form to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered or protected, to be returned to the school prior to the date of the interview. You may be asked for further information about your criminal record self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure & Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed.
