Job description: To teach a broad based and balanced curriculum, according to school and national documents, across the age range in the class.

Following staffing changes, the Headteacher and Governors of Asby Endowed School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Class teacher. This post could be in the EYFS/KS1 or KS2 depending upon the applicant’s curriculum strengths and experience.

The successful candidate will:

  • have excellent teaching skills and be committed to the strong vision and ethos of the school
  • have the whole child in mind at all times, focusing on their well-being and ensuring they are becoming the best they can be
  • know how to ensure the young people in your care can grow and learn effectively so they can progress strongly and fulfil their potential
  • be committed to providing challenging, engaging and exciting learning opportunities for all children, including those with SEND, that motivate and inspire them
  • enable pupils to find their voice in class with regular opportunities for meaningful speaking and listening opportunities throughout the curriculum
  • have excellent classroom management skills with high expectations of standards
  • inspire creativity and imagination, and use both in their problem solving
  • have thorough knowledge of the curriculum across the primary sector (and EYFS), current initiatives and assessment
  • to have taught phonics to EYFS and KS1 (desirable)
  • be a dedicated member of the team who is flexible and resilient
  • can communicate clearly, collaboratively and supportively with colleagues, staff, pupils, governors and the wider community
  • be on a journey of continual professional learning and improvement of practice/skills
  • encourage learning from the wealth of knowledge of our wider community
  • to have the National Award for SEN qualification or the willingness to train to become the SEN co-ordinator (desirable).
