This is an exciting IT role based in the Family Office at Rheged, in Penrith. The role was created to own and develop Westmorland’s data warehouse and is part of our IT Team. The IT Data Manager will be transforming and automating data from across our Family Office and all of our sites so it is accurate, accessible and ready to support decision-making. The role combines hands-on data engineering and analysis with project and development work, ensuring the business has the information it needs, when it needs it.

This role is responsible for managing, transforming and automating the data warehouse while maintaining and enhancing financial and payroll postings. It also involves undertaking project and development work as required, providing second line IT support to help colleagues across the business as well as supporting the wider teams' needs. The role will also be contributing to business development initiatives and delivering training, developing, creating and analysing reports to support business decision-making and participating in the on-call rota to respond to 'unable-to-trade' incidents.

About You

You will need to have strong SQL skills, including writing and optimising queries against relational databases, with a confident use of Microsoft 365. You will need to be able to continue designing, building and maintaining a data warehouse or similar reporting database with understanding of transforming and automating data flows (ETL) and producing reports and dashboards for business users, for example in Power BI. You will also need to have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical colleagues, the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as a full driving licence and own vehicle. It may be beneficial to have a qualification in computing, data or a related discipline, experience working with EPOS, retail or hospitality data, experience of data automation and scripting (e.g. Power Automate or Python) as well as an understanding of data governance, quality and security.
