About this opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed social work practitioner, to join the Safeguarding Adults Team in Westmorland & Furness. The Safeguarding Adults Team within Adult SocialCare, undertakes responsibility for safeguarding decision making through the Single Point of Access, coordinating enquiry work and case conferences as well as providing advice, guidance and support to the existing operational teams across operational adults, mental health and learning disabilities.
The post is based in Penrith although there may be a requirement to travel to other areas of Westmorland & Furness as demand requires. This is a pivotal role within a supportive and dynamic team, providing a statutory operational function to all safeguarding operations: carrying a caseload of safeguarding enquiries and leading on these enquires, to ensure people are safe from harm, abuse and neglect. As well as being a point of contact for advice to the wider teams, the role will develop, shape and promote positive partner relationships with all external partners including; police, health and the third sector.

Candidates should demonstrate a passion for making safeguarding personal from a strengths-based approach. They should have experience of working within the; Care Act 2014 and The Mental Capacity Act 2005, understand the principles of safeguarding, Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Boards policies and procedures of safeguarding and their application to practice: to keep people safe, support adults to achieve their identified outcomes and to live free from abuse and neglect.
