About this opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Public Health team for a 6-month fixed term post as a Public Health Manager. This is to provide capacity whilst the post holder is on extended leave, and the fixed term contract may be extended. The role is full-time but part-time at a minimum of 0.8 WTE will be considered.
The Public Health team is responsible for supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community, through the provision of services and working across the Council and other organisations to put health at the heart of all polices. It is a supportive team that is committed to working collaboratively to improve local outcomes. If successful, you will provide public health advice, support and leadership in our public health approach to Nicotine Dependence and Tobacco Control and other topic areas as required. This will be discussed with the successful applicant. Experience or knowledge of stop smoking policy and services is desirable. However, applicants who can clearly demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and apply new subject areas will still be considered.
Who we are looking for…
We are looking for a self-starting individual with the skills and knowledge to work across Westmorland and Furness to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the population. A background in public health and community engagement and development work is essential. We are looking for an individual with:
- Great communication skills, including presentation and report wring,
- The ability to lead and facilitate partnerships with internal and external stakeholders,
- Excellent analytical skills to understand local health and wellbeing outcomes for the population,
- An ability to identify areas of need and develop plans to address these.
- Skills and experience in leading procurement, commissioning and budget management
