The Fleet Services Team plays a vital role in keeping Westmorland and Furness Council on the move, supporting the safe and legal operation of both the Council\’s fleet and employees driving on its behalf. Their work ensures the organisation can meet its legal and moral responsibilities when delivering a broad range of statutory services.
Managing a diverse fleet, the team oversees everything from waste and recycling vehicles to gritters, pool cars, minibuses, library vans, and even fire appliances. In addition, they maintain over 1,000 items of plant and equipment, including trailers, mowers, and powered tools.
Beyond vehicle maintenance, Fleet Services provides a comprehensive management function. This includes procuring fuel and fuel cards, administering the pool car scheme, managing vehicle telematics, insurance and tax, and supporting procurement activities. The team also plays a key role in ensuring compliance with legislation and guidance through driver training and fleet monitoring.
Who we are looking for…
We are looking to recruit two Project Officers, Fleet Services, the successful candidates will work as part of a small team, supporting the wider Fleet services team. Helping to deliver small and major projects for the Fleet Services team, which will have a large impact on all major service areas in the council. We are seeking somebody with the passion and values, which align to Westmorland and Furness Councils priorities, who has the passion to build and grow with the team. This is an exciting opportunity, for a hardworking and ambitious individual, who has the will help shape the future of Fleet services.
