Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Drainage Network Engineer to join our Highways Operations Team. This role is crucial to the delivery of our highway’s drainage programme and the long‑term maintenance of our drainage infrastructure. You will take a leading role in managing the gully cleansing programme, addressing drainage defects, and supporting the introduction and use of digital asset management systems. The role also involves working closely with contractors, ensuring adherence to service standards, and assisting the Council in meeting its statutory responsibilities under the Highways Act. Your contribution will support the implementation of our Gully Cleaning and Maintenance Code of Practice, while improving our ability to monitor drainage asset conditions and respond effectively to flooding risks.
