CTOT is the Council’s “in‑house” Transport Service. The team delivers home to school transport for mainstream and SEND pupils, and home to daycentre/training for adults with learning disabilities, across Westmorland and Furness Council. As a Passenger Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and vulnerable adults on their journeys to school, college, or training. You will ensure the safety and welfare of passengers from pick‑up to drop‑off, assist with boarding and alighting, and support the driver when needed. You’ll communicate effectively with parents, guardians, drivers, and schools, maintain accurate records, and follow risk assessments to keep everyone safe. Who we are looking for…
We’re looking for caring, confident individuals who can remain calm in challenging situations, think on their feet, and be active and supportive throughout the journey. Good record keeping is desirable. You should be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team. You must be willing to undertake safeguarding and health & safety training (provided) and hold an enhanced DBS clearance. Experience working with children or vulnerable adults is desirable but not essential—full training will be provided.
Working hours
- Term‑time only, Monday to Friday
- Split shifts: approx. 07:30–09:30 and 14:30–16:30
- Flexible options available, including mornings or afternoons (job‑share basis)
- Opportunities for additional work outside term time on adult transport
