Are you a Design Engineer who enjoys seeing your work come to life? Shields (Driffield) Ltd are looking for a talented and proactive Design Engineer to join their growing team working on real-world projects from concept through to manufacture and installation. This is a hands-on role where your designs won’t just sit on a screen; you’ll play a key part in delivering practical engineering solutions across a variety of projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You’ll be at the heart of the design process, collaborating across teams and supporting projects end-to-end:
- Producing accurate 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (SolidWorks)
- Creating assemblies, DXF files, and flat patterns for manufacturing and CNC processes
- Interpreting technical specifications from clients, suppliers, and internal teams
- Supporting Project Managers and Engineers with design input
- Assisting with design reviews, quality checks, and technical documentation
- Contributing to risk identification and compliance with CDM 2015 regulations
- Working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Supporting site surveys across the UK when required
- Helping ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification
To Be Successful
- You will be technically strong, detail-focused, and enjoy solving real engineering challenges:
- Level 3+ qualification in Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong experience using SolidWorks
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles
- Ability to produce and interpret detailed technical drawings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Bonus points if you have:
- Degree in Engineering
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Experience with site work, RAMS, or health & safety training
