We are looking for a detail-driven Estimator to join the growing team and play a key role in the pre-construction phase of solar civils and operations & maintenance projects. In this role, you will report to the Managing Director and analyse project drawings, specifications and client briefs to produce accurate, competitive cost estimates and tender submissions. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors, you'll help ensure projects are priced correctly and delivered successfully.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with estimating experience in construction, civils, or renewable energy who enjoys working with technical information and delivering high-quality proposals.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyse client briefs, drawings and specifications to understand project scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for solar civils and O&M projects.
- Carry out quantity take-offs for labour, materials, plant, overheads and subcontractor services.
- Conduct site visits to assess logistics, access and project constraints.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
- Price and manage project variations and scope changes.
- Identify potential financial risks and contingencies within estimates.
- Work closely with internal teams to refine pricing and tender submissions.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, assumptions and cost data.
- Prepare handover documentation once projects are awarded.
We are looking for someone who is analytical, organised and comfortable working with technical documentation and tight deadlines.
Essential:- Experience in an estimating role.
- Experience within construction, civils, or infrastructure projects (solar or renewables desirable).
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent Excel and estimating software skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar.
