An owner managed business, specialising in agricultural and solar civil work are looking for a skilled and commercially minded Finance Manager to join their team in a flexible, part-time role. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional who wants to play a key role in a growing, forward-thinking business while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You will work closely with the Directors, taking ownership of the finance function and providing valuable insight to support business performance and decision-making.
This is a broad, hands-on Finance Manager role where you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations while also contributing to strategic planning. Key areas include:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis and commentary
- Ownership of the month-end process (accruals, prepayments, reconciliations)
- Budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting
- Cashflow management, including bank reconciliations and payment planning
- Credit control oversight and ledger management
- Payroll coordination and statutory compliance (VAT, PAYE, pensions)
- Management of company insurances and risk
- Supporting Directors with financial insights, planning, and decision-making
- Continuous improvement of systems, processes, and reporting
The role would suit someone who is both technically strong and commercially aware and enjoys being close to the detail but can also step back and add strategic value. You will ideally have:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification (or part-qualified / QBE with strong experience)
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Management Accountant role
- Strong experience with month-end, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Confidence managing cashflow and working closely with senior stakeholders
- A hands-on, proactive approach with excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly
- Experience within SMEs or owner-managed businesses would be highly advantageous.
