A Company Accountant is required for a creative and fast-growing SME in the food & drink sector, producing a range of high-quality products supplied across the UK and internationally. Recently strengthened through integration into a wider group with a turnover of c.Β£50m, the company remains a stand-alone entity giving this role the autonomy and variety of an all-round accounting position, with the added support and stability of a larger finance function.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Company Accountant / Management Accountant to take ownership of the finance function for the business. Acting as the go-to finance lead on site, you\’ll handle everything from day-to-day transactions through to month-end accounts and strategic financial analysis, supported by the wider group finance team.

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
  • Managing month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Overseeing purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
  • Monitoring production costs, stock, and margins, with regular analysis
  • Preparing VAT returns and statutory submissions (including industry-specific duties)
  • Supporting budgets, forecasts, and cashflow planning
  • Liaising with auditors, external stakeholders and the group finance function
  • Driving process improvements and maintaining strong financial controls

About You

Were looking for a hands-on, commercially minded accountant who enjoys variety and autonomy.

You Will Have

  • Part-qualified / fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) OR qualified by experience
  • Solid management accounting or all-round company accounting experience (manufacturing / food & drink background desirable)
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (Xero, Sage or similar)
  • Good knowledge of cost accounting and stock/inventory management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both finance and non-finance colleagues
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset comfortable working independently but happy to collaborate with group support
