This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week. The School of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking to recruit a committed, adaptable and enthusiastic individual to join our experienced team of academic staff. You must be sufficiently proficient in major programming languages, have a good understanding of software development principles, and be able to adapt to teaching from level 3 to level 7.
Most of the teaching duties for the post will be in the area of Cyber Security at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, though this may vary. We are seeking candidates with practical experience in a range of cyber security and forensics technical skills, such as:
- Network security
- Penetration testing
- Defensive programming
- Forensics experience in data extraction and analysis
These skills are highly desirable. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with a Post-Graduate Degree or Professional Qualification in Cyber Security-related areas or equivalent industry experience.
Duties will include:
- Teaching face-to-face and online
- Setting assessments
- Marking and giving feedback
- Supervision of final year and post-graduate projects
- Acting as a personal tutor to provide pastoral support to students
As part of the role, you will be expected to support students in competitions, work-based learning, and other opportunities for enterprise. Furthermore, you will also be expected to contribute to School strategic subject-based, professional or pedagogic research and development and other scholarly activities in order to support your teaching. Staff are also encouraged to develop their external research profile and the appointee to this post will be expected to contribute to one or more of the School’s multidisciplinary Research Groups.
