Westminster School are looking for an Archives and Records Management Assistant (Graduate Trainee) to support and work alongside the School’s full-time Archivist and Records Manager. This role is intended for a graduate who wishes to gain archive experience before or whilst undertaking a postgraduate course in Archives and / or Record Management. Opportunities for training and professional development will be provided.
The successful candidate will help care for the School’s collections, assisting with storing and re-packaging. A key part of the role will be about managing data, and supporting the Archivist in developing the School’s digital archive of electronic records, using the digital preservation tool Archivematica. Aside from responding to general enquiries from the Westminster community and members of the public too, there will also be the opportunity to be involved with outreach, supporting the provision of co-curricular opportunities for pupils to become involved in the Archive.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a relevant subject, and will show evidence of continuing study towards a postgraduate qualification in archive management or similar sector qualification. Experience of working or volunteering in archives or the heritage sector would be advantageous. The Archives and Records Management Assistant will have excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively at school and with external parties. Accuracy and attention to detail are vital, especially when undertaking repetitive and focused work.
The salary for this role is £16,200 per annum (actual) based on an FTE of £27,000 per annum. Please note, CVs sent without an application form will not be accepted.
