Westminster Cracker Company has been baking in Vermont since 1828. We're a small, established food manufacturer in Rutland, and we're hiring Production Associates to work on our packaging lines.
This is an entry-level job, and we'll train you. You'll start on one station, learn it well over your first 90 days, and then cross-train across the line. You'll report to the Production Supervisor and work alongside a Production Team Leader who's there to help. No manufacturing experience required β what we need is someone who shows up, works safely, and cares about doing the job right.
What you'll do
- Pack crackers into cartons, cases, and bulk containers at rated line speed
- Assemble and weigh cartons, check counts and seals, and keep product moving
- Watch for off-spec product and stop or flag it right away
- Follow GMP, food safety, and safety rules on every shift β hairnet, hand washing, no bypassing guards
- Keep your station clean and stocked, and help with line changeovers
- Record basic production and quality checks accurately
What we're looking for
Must-haves
- Ability to follow instructions and standard work, and to ask before deviating
- Reliable attendance and availability for the assigned shift, including overtime and weekends when production requires
- Ability to stand for the full shift, do repetitive hand work, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Willingness to speak up when something isn't safe or doesn't look right
Nice-to-haves
- Prior production, packaging, warehouse, or food service experience
- Experience in a GMP or food manufacturing environment
- Spanish, French, or Pashto in addition to English
The environment
A working bakery floor. Expect machinery noise, flour dust, seasonal temperature swings, and a steady pace. A hairnet, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, and gloves are required.
What we offer
- $18.00/hr plus $1.50 shift differential
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with 50% company match on up to 6%, plus a 3% safe harbor contribution regardless of what you put in
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- A clear path from Production Associate I to II to III, with raises tied to what you learn β and openings on the Dough Room, packaging machine, and Team Leader tracks
