Job Summary
Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise day‑to‑day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in accordance with state and federal standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage all admissions and discharges that occur on the day shift
- Meet with each Med nurse to review day case load and special responsibilities
- Review all new admissions from the previous day to ensure the admission checklist is completed
- Complete or verify completion of daily skilled documentation for all Med A residents assigned to the day team
- Notify MD/NP of issues as appropriate; review labs and x‑rays and ensure all have been addressed
- Complete all skin inspections and Braden inspections according to schedule
- Emergency support: Assist nurses in printing emergency records, calling for transport, completing SBAR, and support other nurses in utilizing medication dispense when necessary
- Incidents and Accidents: Complete documentation for all incidents, including witness statements, initial incident documentation, and progress notes describing care provided
- Update care plans with new prevention intervention suggestions
- Manage pharmacy deliveries and troubleshoot any problems with medication availability or order
- Attend meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing on weekends
- Assist staffing with managing evening shift call offs
- Verify that all day staff arrive and are aware of their assignments
- Review upcoming evening shift staffing and manage any problems using the staffing book; monitor AHT compliance EMAR/ETAR documentation and Smart Charting
- Work every other weekend and some holidays
Essential Qualifications
Education: Must be licensed in Florida as a Registered Nurse and CPR certified. One year of long‑term care experience is desirable. Preference for Med‑Surg or home‑health experience with the elderly, handicapped, or developmentally disabled adults. On‑the‑job training will be provided for any gaps.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Manual dexterity, lifting up to 40 lbs, standing, grasping, pushing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Sensory activities include feeling, smelling, hearing, speaking, seeing, and tasting. Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, physical hazards, and respiratory hazards.
