JOB SUMMARY:

Provide direct nursing care to the residents and supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and staff nurse in accordance with state and federal standards. This supervision may be required by the DON to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Comply with all applicable rules, policies, standards, and guidelines related to employment with Westminster Services and its communities.

Role / Responsibility Supervisor - Evenings

Daily Duties:

  • Manage all admissions and discharges that occur on the evening shift
  • Huddle with CNA team on each floor to discuss case load and any special responsibilities for their shift
  • Oversee care of all residents and intervene/support staff appropriately
  • Review all new admissions from Days to ensure admission check list is completed
  • Review completion of daily skilled documentation for all Med A residents that were assigned for evening team
  • Med Dispense
  • Incidents and Accidents - Complete documentation for all Incidents including witness statements; Initial incident documentation; Progress not describing care provided and Update care plan with new prevention intervention suggestion
  • Staffing - Managing evening and night shift staffing; Verify that all evening staff arrive and they are aware of their assignments

Reporting

  • Notify MD/NP with issues as appropriate
  • Oversee care of all residents and intervene appropriately
  • Manage any disciplinary issues that come up on nights
  • Review all new admissions from Days and Evenings to ensure admission check list is completed

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse. A minimum of year as a supervisor is required. Must be CPR Certified.

Experience and Basic Knowledge

One year of long term care desirable. Med-surg, Home Health, Emergency Room experience helpful. Also experience working with the handicapped or developmentally disabled adults.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

The physical activities of this position involve: Finger dexterity, Lifting up to 40 lbs., Standing, Grasping, pushing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Utilizing a computer.

Sensory and communicative activities with or without prosthetics of this position are: Feeling, Smelling, Hearing, Speaking, Seeing, Typing and Tasting.

Exposure

An individual in this position will be exposed to: Inside environmental conditions, Blood borne pathogens, Physical hazards using equipment, Respiratory hazards. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
