Quantity Surveyor – Housing Development (Westminster City Council)

Westminster City Council seeks a passionate Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Development team. In this key role, you\’ll be a financial champion, guiding housing projects from concept to final handover.

Make a lasting impact:

• Provide specialist commercial expertise across the entire project lifecycle.
• Lead site acquisition evaluation and development of cost plans.
• Implement value engineering to optimize project costs.
• Manage change control and contingency reserves effectively.
• Secure best value through contract negotiation with developers and consultants.
• Generate monthly cost reports and maintain a comprehensive cost database.
• Mitigate financial risks through project risk management strategies.
• Champion standardization for streamlined processes.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive departmental environment.

You are a qualified commercial professional with:

• Minimum 3 years\’ experience as a construction quantity surveyor (residential sector preferred).
• Strong understanding of construction costs, procurement, and risk management.
• MRICS qualification (or actively pursuing) a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and deliver projects within financial constraints.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills to build positive relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; project management software experience a plus.
