Quantity Surveyor – Housing Development (Westminster City Council)

Westminster City Council seeks a passionate Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Development team. In this key role, you\’ll be a financial champion, guiding housing projects from concept to final handover.

- Provide specialist commercial expertise across the entire project lifecycle.
- Lead site acquisition evaluation and development of cost plans.
- Implement value engineering to optimize project costs.
- Manage change control and contingency reserves effectively.
- Secure best value through contract negotiation with developers and consultants.
- Generate monthly cost reports and maintain a comprehensive cost database.
- Mitigate financial risks through project risk management strategies.
- Champion standardization for streamlined processes.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive departmental environment.
You are a qualified commercial professional with:
- Minimum 3 years\’ experience as a construction quantity surveyor (residential sector preferred).
- Strong understanding of construction costs, procurement, and risk management.
- MRICS qualification (or actively pursuing) a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and deliver projects within financial constraints.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to build positive relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; project management software experience a plus.
