The Role: As a Health & Safety Assurance Associate, you will be responsible for conducting detailed reviews of workplace Health & Safety management systems, identifying risks, benchmarking performance, and investigating incidents to determine lessons learnt. Your day-to-day will include:
- Carrying out data analysis of accidents
- Creating plans for managers to action
- Collaborating, training, and engaging with staff across the council
You will help upskill staff, facilitating a culture of learning, development, and continuous improvement. Taking a human-centred approach to safety, you will balance complex health & safety risks and compliance obligations to deliver meaningful impact to over 3,600 staff.
About You: You will have a Level 6 NVQ or NEBOSH Occupational Health and Safety Diploma, or equivalent, and have previously worked as a Health & Safety professional in a large, complex organisation. You will be confident conducting inspections and audits, with in-depth knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation. Personal qualities include being self-motivated, resilient, level-headed, and capable of building strong working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the Council and beyond. You will be a strong communicator and true team player, passionate about supporting the Council’s drive to develop a modernised and resilient Health & Safety function built on trust, innovation, and care.
