This apprenticeship gives you the chance to build the skills, knowledge and confidence to work across all areas of People & Culture at WCC. You'll learn on the job, support real colleagues and stakeholders, and finish with the experience you need to take the next step in your HR career.
Responsibilities
- Rotate across People & Culture functions in line with the apprenticeship programme
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and stakeholders
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, professionalism and integrity
- Support equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work
- Keep accurate records and manage information appropriately
- Actively engage with apprenticeship training, assessments and development opportunities
- Positively demonstrate the Council's values and behaviours
Service Delivery: deliver excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers.
Problem Solving: use sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Take ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
Communication & Interpersonal: deal effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media (e.g. phone, face-to-face, email, internet). Adapt style to audience, build trust and handle conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
Teamwork: consistently support colleagues, collaborate within the team and HR to achieve results, building strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
Process Improvement: identify opportunities to improve HR performance and service; act on them within the authority of the role. Support implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
Managing HR Information: maintain required HR records, prepare reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
Personal Development: keep up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to the role. Seek feedback and act on it to improve performance and overall capability.
