Westminster Academy has a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional Assistant Vice Principal to work with the Principal and Vice Principals supporting the strategic leadership of the Academy by providing effective leadership and management for a designated area of the Academy's work. Your primary mission is to play a key strategic and operational role in ensuring that safeguarding and the highest standards of student attendance and behaviour are embedded in all aspects of school life. The post holder will create a safe, aspirational, and inclusive culture in which every student can thrive, and provide visible leadership, significantly student and staff-facing, with a strong presence across the school for all stakeholders. The post holder will also ensure that the Academy meets and exceeds statutory safeguarding requirements, while maintaining robust systems for behaviour, attendance, and student welfare. If you are passionate about the leadership of attendance, safeguarding and pastoral support, with a specific blend of expertise and character, we'd love to hear from you.
We are looking for an individual with:
- A compassionate and proactive professional with a passion for supporting young people to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
- A proven track record of improving outcomes.
- A "cool head, warm heart" approach to the daily challenges of school leadership.
- The ability to hold difficult conversations with kindness and clarity.

Safeguarding & Equality
We are committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. As such, this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. There may also be additional safeguarding requirements and responsibilities depending on the nature of the role advertised and the extent to which the role will involve contact with children. We expect all staff to share our commitment to safeguarding. A professional social media check may take place to reduce risks to reputation, confidentiality breach and data security. The check identifies a candidate's online presence to look for negative behaviours such as bullying, racism, nudity and excessive bad language. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020, as the work brings employees into contact with children who are regarded by the Act as a vulnerable group. Applicants for any role at Westminster Academy must disclose all spent and unspent convictions.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. There shall be no discrimination based on age, disability, sex, race, religion or belief, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, or sexual orientation.
