We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our technical team based in Selby. This role involves carrying out line checks, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting food safety and compliance standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out line quality control and assurance checks, including weight checks, machine verification, organoleptic tests, packaging checks, coding checks, calibration and verification, lab equipment maintenance, data analysis and reporting, documentation audits, and audit-readiness.
  • Record keeping, filing, archiving, and ensuring document control.
  • Assist the Technical Co‑ordinator with technical issue resolution and continuous development of food safety and quality.
  • Conduct site internal audits (CCP, GMP, Glass and Plastic, Hygiene, etc.).
  • Collect and coordinate samples for routine micro/analytical analysis and process coordination.
  • Reinforce good manufacturing practices and hygiene policies, advise staff as needed, and report non‑conformances to supervisors/managers, investigating them.
  • Attend and contribute to technical team meetings for the development of food safety systems.
  • Cross‑train to cover for the Technical Co‑ordinator.
  • Assist with training.
  • Maintain close working relationships with team leaders, production staff, and other departments to drive quality and safety forward.
  • Work and promote safe work practices according to Westmill health and safety procedures.
  • Actively participate in external audits, including BRC, and internal site improvements as required.
  • Investigate complaints, conduct root cause analysis and close out NCRs.
  • Conduct taste panels to ensure product consistency.
  • Report on trends and issues to the Technical Co‑ordinator.

The Right Person

To be successful, you must demonstrate strong attention to detail, a proactive approach, data handling and report writing skills. Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, weight legislation, and QMS is an advantage, as is experience in a quality environment and auditing.
