Overview Of Role
To ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment and systems across the site through both planned and reactive maintenance activities. This role aims to minimise downtime and eliminate quality issues, thereby supporting continuous production and adherence to quality standards.
Additionally, the Shift-Based Engineer will play a key role in improving the site’s culture by promoting effective communication between and across departments. They will drive curiosity within the shift team to understand root causes of issues and foster a learning and coaching environment. Strong problem-solving skills are essential to identify and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency and quality.
The Shift-Based Engineer will also ensure compliance with legislative, business, and site procedures and practices.

Key Accountabilities
  • Routine planned maintenance and maintenance requests to minimise downtime and ensure optimal performance
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation issues promptly to maintain production flow.
  • Conduct breakdown repairs of plant and site service equipment utilising problem solving to drive 100-year fix mentality
  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce waste through effective use of the change management procedure
  • Participate in continuous improvement and capital projects
  • Ensure the upkeep of spare parts inventory
  • Upkeep of all engineering technical documentation and capture accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repairs.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Support and coach relevant employees in all aspects of shared maintenance
  • To undertake training and up skilling programs as directed by business needs.
  • Deliver effective communication at:
Cell reviews
Engineering meetings
Engineering Handovers
  • Make decisions within the framework of site policies and compliance to customer codes of practice.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities
  • Provide the engineering manager and planner with required records and paperwork of all completed jobs.
Qualifications
  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (electrical or Multi skilled).
  • ONC or BTEC equivalent
  • HNC (desirable)
Knowledge/ Skills / Experience
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems used in food manufacturing.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • High attention to detail to ensure precision in maintenance and repairs to uphold quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and report issues.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software.
  • Specific understanding of health and safety regulations related to engineering and food production.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Delivering planned and unplanned works in a high pace environment
  • Knowledge of site production processes
