Overview Of Role
There is now an exciting opportunity for a Line Technician to join our Enfield Team. You will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient running, maintenance, changeover and troubleshooting of the spice production lines. You will be expected to champion a zero-accident culture, excellent focus on food safety, quality and to drive Westmill’s key behaviours. You will play an active role in the delivery of department performance targets such as OEE, right first time (RFT), waste and yield. Once trained, you will also be expected to complete basic equipment condition monitoring, preventative maintenance duties and basic engineering repairs.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead & ensure H&S and Technical compliance, delivering on all H&S and Quality KPI’s (Near miss reporting, RFT, SML & BRC audit scores etc.).
- Lead and monitor the production line team to ensure all tasks are achieved in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ensure all daily targets are met.
- Check and identify any issues that would affect line efficiency, food safety or product quality and elevate to the engineering team and production Shift Managers, to minimise down time and achieve OEE in line with current targets.
- Complete shift handovers with other shift line technicians ensuring you know what the status is in terms of materials required, pallets left to produce, next product, machine downtime and elevate any concerns.
- Meet all quality and food standard checks as defined by the Quality Assurance Systems to meet Customer Service targets. This includes verifying tipping process, CCP checks, start up and hourly quality checks.
- Carry out Operator Preventative Maintenance e.g. cleaning or greasing of line to maximise smooth running of the lines. Use deep clean schedules, daily and weekly cleaning sheets and maintenance rota as a guide.
- Ensure all materials used in production are issued and de-kitted correctly and any finished goods pallets produced are recorded and receipted correctly.
- Ensure all line operatives are actively supervised and maintain our high standards for H&S, Food Safety, Quality and OEE compliance.
- Deliver training to new operatives on the line operation and ensure they are working safely within the production guide lines (Including temporary staff as required)
- Reconciliation of daily production sent to our storage and distribution partners with the FLT ensuring all variances are resolved.
The Right Person
To be successful in your application, you must demonstrate that you can work both within a team and use your own initiative with a confident and collaborative approach combined with a strong, proactive work ethic and excellent communication skills. Having a strong sense of establishing great working practices and standards will be required in this role. You must have a flexible approach to our rotating shift pattern of AM shift (6am-3pm) and PM shift (3pm-11pm) Monday to Friday. At times, there will also be the opportunity to work additional hours before and after shift as well as at weekends. Full training will be provided.
