Overview Of Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical CI Engineer to join our Enfield site. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant and reliable operations of electrical infrastructure while supporting site performance across health and safety, cost, efficiency, quality and service. You will provide hands‑on support for PLC and HMI systems, automation, robotics, drives and packaging machinery. You will act as the escalation point for complex electrical and controls faults, supporting Maintenance Shift Engineers during major breakdowns and driving robust root cause analysis to deliver long‑term fixes.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with electrical legislation, standards, and safe systems of work.
- Own electrical documentation, schematics, and change control; complete statutory checks.
- Lead electrical investigations using RCA / Simple Problem Solving to drive 100-year fixes.
- Lead CI using Lean tools (Kaizen, 5Y, SMED, DMAIC) to reduce waste and improve OEE.
- Identify and deliver efficiency improvements; support capital projects from concept to commissioning.
- Fault‑find and repair PLC/HMI and automation systems; manage backups and version control.
- Maintain control systems, sensors, and drives.
- Provide hands‑on support during major breakdowns requiring electrical/controls expertise.
- Guide Shift Engineers with complex troubleshooting and PM optimisation.
- Adhere to GMP and permit‑to‑work; complete Risk Assessments on non‑routine tasks.
The Right Person
The successful candidate will lead, support and execute Continuous Improvement initiatives aligned to the Engineering strategy, using Lean and CI methodologies to reduce waste, improve efficiency and enhance overall equipment effectiveness. You will play a key role in delivering site KPIs across Health and Safety, cost control, line efficiency, food safety and quality, customer complaints, right first time, service and on time in full performance. Applicants must hold a Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification with Electrical ONC or BTEC equivalent, ideally supported by an Electrical HNC. Strong experience with Siemens or Mitsubishi PLCs, HMIs, FMCG manufacturing and food industry standards is desired, along with the ability to work independently when required.
