Our Business

We are proud of our heritage and position as one of Europe’s largest specialist food companies, manufacturing and supplying authentic global foods which serve the chefs and owners of restaurants and takeaways, as well as a diverse range of consumers. With a strong portfolio of leading brands including Lucky Boat, Elephant Atta, Rajah, Green Dragon and Patak’s, our product range is as diverse as the people who choose to work here, and includes noodles, flour, rice, spices, sauces, and oils. We pride ourselves on our passion for food and people, where collaboration, diversity, and inclusion are integral in everything that we do. This is underpinned with our employee resource groups where members and allies help create an inclusive environment and special events are celebrated. Westmill is a place where no one feels like the new person for long and everyone has the chance to make a real difference to the business by being their authentic selves.

The Opportunity

You will be the heart of shaping Westmill’s future – attracting brilliant people, developing them into high‑performing leaders and building a culture where talent thrives at every level from our operational teams to the board. This is an opportunity to design strategies, programmes and experiences that will position Westmill at the standout centre of excellence within the ABF Grocery Group. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders, heads of function and peers across ABF to drive continuous improvement and embed best practice. Working with the HR and Marketing departments you will drive the enhancement of our employer brand while taking full ownership of recruitment excellence. This includes shaping attraction strategies, assessment approaches, onboarding standards, and managing key external partnerships. You will maximise the value of the apprenticeship levy, develop leadership and first line management programmes for our management teams, and deliver development initiatives that make a measurable impact on performance and ROI.

The successful candidate will bring strong recruitment expertise, including hands‑on experience in internal hiring, alongside a solid technical understanding of ATS platforms, attraction strategies, and assessment methodologies. You will understand how to tailor selection techniques to suit different levels and functions and be confident in advising stakeholders and leaders on best practice. While experience in Learning & Development is desirable rather than essential, you will demonstrate a genuine passion for developing people and a clear ambition to expand your capability in this area. You will be motivated by the opportunity to design apprenticeship pathways, shape leadership programmes, and deliver training initiatives that drive measurable performance improvements. You will be proactive, self‑motivated, and solutions‑oriented, with excellent communication skills and the credibility to influence at all levels of the organisation. You will balance resilience with strong listening and problem‑solving abilities and be driven by continuous improvement and delivering meaningful business impact.

This role is based in Trafford, Manchester, with an expectation of 2–3 days per week on site. A full driving licence and flexibility to travel across multiple sites are essential requirements.
