At Westland Horticulture, we’re growing fast - and our engineering capability is growing with us. We’re looking for hands-on Maintenance Engineers to join our Southport manufacturing site and play a vital role in keeping our operations running safely, efficiently, and at peak performance. This is a practical, varied role where you’ll take ownership of mechanical problem solving across the site, working on a wide range of industrial plant and equipment. If you enjoy fault-finding, improving machinery reliability, and being a trusted technical expert on the shop floor, this is a brilliant opportunity to make a real impact.
What you’ll be doing:
- Responding to mechanical breakdowns and diagnosing faults to minimise production downtime
- Carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and improvements across site equipment
- Delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to improve reliability and performance
- Supporting installation, relocation, and upgrade of machinery and plant
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures and legislation
- Accurately recording maintenance activity and supporting continuous improvement
- Contributing to a well-organised, cost-effective spare parts system
What we’re looking for:
- Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 2 qualified Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent)
- At least 2 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Electrically competent, with a willingness to further upskill
- 18th Edition qualification desirable
- Experience working on industrial manufacturing machinery highly advantageous
- Able to work independently, make confident decisions, and remain calm under pressure
- Flexible approach, with some overtime required
- Comfortable working at height when required
