We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager to join our Horticultural Technical team based at Alconbury Hill. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on innovation, enjoys ownership, and wants to shape the future of a growing product portfolio.
Reporting directly to the Head of Technical, you will take full ownership of our Plant Nutrition and Lawn Care portfolio, playing a pivotal role in driving innovation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maximising the commercial value of our products across all markets.
- Lead value-adding new product development across the garden product portfolio.
- Identify, develop, and commercially justify new product opportunities.
- Own and manage the long-term NPD pipeline, working closely with external partners to ensure successful delivery.
- Keep the business ahead of the curve by driving meaningful, differentiated innovation with a clear 5-year vision.
- Deliver market-leading innovation across plant nutrition, lawn care, and the wider horticultural portfolio.
- Manage formulation and regulatory requirements throughout the NPD process.
- Oversee both new and existing products, continually introducing innovative technologies to strengthen the portfolio.
Commercial Impact
- Collaborate with European and global commercial partners to develop growth opportunities for our brands.
- Ensure products and strategies are future-proofed across all divisions and markets.
- Stay ahead of regulatory, consumer, and market trends, helping to steer the business towards a sustainable future.
- Create commercially viable opportunities within the Controls product range.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- A proven track record as a Technical Manager within consumer goods, ideally from one or more of the following sectors:
- Horticulture
- Turf & Amenity
- Agriculture / Agri-chemicals
- Chemicals / Household Controls
- Plant Trials environments
Technical Understanding (Highly Desirable)
- Background in the agricultural or horticultural sector.
- Experience working within a technical department.
- Exposure to innovation across products such as plant nutrition, lawn care, seed, chemical controls, pesticides, and biocides within an FMCG setting.
