Westlakes Recruit are currently supporting a leading civil engineering contractor in the search for an experienced Senior Engineer to join their delivery team on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineering professional who enjoys taking ownership of site engineering activities, leading teams, and driving safe, efficient and high-quality project delivery.
The Role
As Senior Engineer, you will work closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers and wider site teams to ensure engineering activities are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with programme, design and commercial requirements. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading engineering delivery across complex civil engineering projects.
- Managing setting out and surveying activities.
- Coordinating temporary works and ensuring compliance with approved designs and procedures.
- Driving quality assurance processes, inspections and testing requirements.
- Reviewing designs and identifying opportunities to improve buildability and efficiency.
- Managing the flow of technical information between design, commercial and construction teams.
- Supervising subcontractor engineering activities and monitoring performance.
- Mentoring, developing and supporting Engineers, Graduates and Apprentices.
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- SMSTS certification.
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification.
- Previous experience delivering major civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, rail or utilities projects.
- Strong technical capability in setting out, surveying and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Sound understanding of temporary works, quality assurance processes and construction standards.
- Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to safety, quality and project delivery.
