Site Engineer to join a major long-term civil infrastructure framework at

Sellafield .

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes, delivering complex civil engineering works within a highly regulated nuclear environment.

Working alongside experienced project teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Site Engineer, you'll provide engineering support across a range of civil engineering packages, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications and programme requirements.

You'll be responsible for engineering control, quality assurance, setting out, temporary works support and maintaining accurate project records while working collaboratively with construction teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

  • Drainage and utilities
  • Highways and access roads
  • Temporary and permanent works

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out accurate engineering control and setting out activities.
  • Ensure construction works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with inspection and test plans.
  • Maintain engineering records and as-built information.
  • Identify design discrepancies and raise technical queries where required.
  • Construction Support
  • Produce permits, task briefs and construction documentation.
  • Support the delivery of short‑term programmes and construction planning.
  • Assist with the implementation of temporary works in accordance with approved designs.
  • Work closely with subcontractors to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Quality & Assurance
  • Carry out inspections and quality checks throughout construction.
  • Complete inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Raise and manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs) where required.
  • Support the successful delivery of project quality objectives.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental
  • Promote a strong safety culture across site activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all project health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in site inspections, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
  • Commercial & Reporting
  • Provide measurement information to commercial teams.
  • Maintain accurate site diaries and progress records.
  • Record labour, plant and subcontractor activities.
  • Support project reporting and engineering documentation.

About You

We're looking for engineers who enjoy working on technically challenging civil engineering projects and are confident operating within highly regulated environments.

You'll ideally have

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience setting out and engineering control.
  • Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, drainage and infrastructure works.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and inspection processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Previous experience working within the nuclear sector or other regulated industries.
  • CSCS Card.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • Temporary Works awareness.
  • Experience using Leica or Trimble surveying equipment.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and collaborative delivery models.
