Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a major infrastructure project.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join a high-performing team, playing a pivotal role in the successful delivery of complex civil engineering works.

Working alongside project leadership, site teams, designers, and subcontractors, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate site engineering activities across the project.
  • Liaise with clients, designers, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams.
  • Manage technical compliance, setting out, and construction documentation.
  • Monitor progress against programme, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Support procurement, logistics, and material management.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of project milestones through proactive planning and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical understanding with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • SMSTS certification.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification.
