The Opportunity
We are seeking an Electrical Designer to support the delivery of high-quality electrical design solutions across a diverse portfolio of nuclear engineering projects.
Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, you will contribute to the development of electrical designs from initial concept through to installation, commissioning and operational support.
You'll play a key role in ensuring designs are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with industry standards while developing your technical expertise within a highly regulated environment.
Hybrid working is available, with the role based from Warrington.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Design
- Produce electrical design solutions across all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept through to detailed design and in-service support.
- Prepare and maintain electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Ensure all design outputs are delivered to agreed quality, programme and budget requirements.
- Support the development of practical and innovative engineering solutions for complex nuclear projects.
- Technical Delivery
- Work collaboratively with engineers, designers and project teams to develop coordinated design solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
- Resolve technical queries and support the implementation of design changes where required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and design quality.
- Project Support
- Assist with project planning, design estimates and technical documentation.
- Support manufacturing, installation and commissioning teams by providing technical design information.
- Contribute to testing documentation and engineering verification activities.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained accurately throughout the project lifecycle.
- Quality & Compliance
- Produce engineering drawings in accordance with recognised drafting standards and ISO requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards and quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate design records and document control.
- Promote a strong safety culture while working within a highly regulated nuclear environment.
- Experience producing electrical design deliverables within engineering, manufacturing or infrastructure environments.
- Working knowledge of CAD software and electrical design tools.
- Understanding of general engineering drawing practices and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality design outputs.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- A proactive approach to learning and continuous professional development.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold one of the following
- ONC, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- BTEC National Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent).
- Completed Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
The following experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Experience within the nuclear, defence, energy or other highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and industrial installations.
- Familiarity with engineering design lifecycle processes.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams.
- Security Requirements
Due to the nature of the projects, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
