Overview
Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer interested in opportunities on a permanent basis, to be located in the North West.
What you\’ll be doing
- Produce detailed mechanical drawings, including 3D models, 2D general arrangements, plot plans, and pipework designs.
- Support laser scanning operations and site surveys to inform accurate and up-to-date design work.
- Prepare essential documentation such as line lists, valve lists, and tie-in point schedules to support efficient project execution.
- Collaborate closely with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and smooth project progression.
- Provide hands-on support during installation phases and remains actively involved through regular project meetings.
- Ensure all aspects of mechanical services projects are clearly defined, well-coordinated, and effectively delivered, both off-site and on-site.
What you\’ll bring
- Work on a pharmaceutical site (HORUS clearance required)
- HNC in a related field; professional membership a plus
- 5+ years\’ experience in mechanical design and 3D modelling
- Confident with pipe specs and design constraints
- Familiar with laser scanning, site surveys, fabrication, and pressure vessel codes
- Skilled in AutoCAD, CADWorx/Plant3D, and Microsoft tools
- Collaborative team player in multi-discipline settings
- Embraces innovation and tracks project hours and progress
