We are currently recruiting for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join a leading organisation operating at the Sellafield site in Cumbria. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining critical systems that support the safe operation of one of the UK's most important nuclear facilities.

The Opportunity

As an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, calibrating and testing specialist radiation protection instrumentation that supports safe operations across the Sellafield site. Working within a highly regulated environment, you will ensure equipment performs reliably and complies with stringent safety and quality standards while supporting operational teams with expert technical knowledge. This role is ideal for an experienced Electrical, Electronic or Instrumentation Technician looking to further their career within the nuclear industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Calibration
    • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on radiation protection instrumentation.
    • Repair, calibrate and test specialist electrical and instrumentation equipment.
    • Diagnose faults and implement effective engineering solutions.
    • Ensure all equipment meets required performance, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Compliance & Quality
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and calibration documentation.
    • Follow site procedures, engineering standards and quality management systems.
    • Ensure all work complies with nuclear safety requirements and regulatory obligations.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance activities.
  • Technical Support
    • Provide technical advice and support to internal customers and operational teams.
    • Communicate progress updates and technical information throughout maintenance activities.
    • Support equipment reliability and operational performance across the facility.
  • Team Development
    • Mentor apprentices and junior technicians.
    • Share technical knowledge and best practice across the wider engineering team.
    • Contribute to maintaining a strong safety culture and collaborative working environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience maintaining, servicing or repairing electrical, electronic or instrumentation systems.
  • Good understanding of electrical and instrumentation maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of conventional and nuclear safety practices.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a highly regulated engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Electronics or a related discipline.
  • Completed apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training in Electrical, Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of this role, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
