Westlakes are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic team based in Warrington. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key role in delivering complex engineering projects within a regulated environment. We are considering candidates on both a permanent and contract basis. Role Responsibilities
- Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to:
- Identify the feasibility of the approach
- Develop an outline requirement specification
- Identify the TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
- Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraise and select phase of the project.
- Deliver to the agreed time, cost and quality
- Lead the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables
- Manage the JV teams in production of deliverables
- Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation
- Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule
- Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
- Interface and engage with Site clients and stakeholders
Essential Experience
- Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel
- Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge
- Recent experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is key
- Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered): Health & Safety at Work Act, The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation
- Identification of Technological Readiness Levels and development of technology development plans
