Westlakes Recruit are supporting the appointment of an experienced IMS Auditor to join a leading organisation operating within highly regulated Nuclear and Defence environments. This role is responsible for assessing, auditing, and improving Integrated Management Systems (IMS) to ensure compliance with recognised standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will provide independent assurance across Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety management systems, helping to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the business. The role will involve working closely with stakeholders at all levels to evaluate system effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the maintenance of a strong compliance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, conduct, and report on internal and supplier audits across the organisation.
  • Assess compliance against ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Evaluate management systems through both process-level and system-level audits.
  • Produce accurate, objective, and value-adding audit reports.
  • Identify non-conformances, observations, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Support the development and delivery of risk-based audit programmes.
  • Engage with operational and functional teams to promote continual improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to management on management system compliance and best practice.
  • Maintain impartiality and independence whilst delivering assurance activities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Integrated Management System.
  • Support external certification, surveillance, and regulatory audits as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant practical experience within the Nuclear, Nuclear-related, Defence, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting management system audits.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • ISO 9001 - Quality Management Systems
    • ISO 14001 - Environmental Management Systems
    • ISO 45001 - Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
  • Experience undertaking process-based and system-based audits.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience interpreting standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Requirements

  • IRCA Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working within a certified Integrated Management System environment.
  • Knowledge of additional ISO standards and management system frameworks.
  • Experience conducting supplier and subcontractor audits.
  • Understanding of UK Nuclear Industry and Defence regulatory requirements.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
