Electrical Engineer in Birmingham

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their Bristol-based team, supporting project delivery across the Midlands, Southwest, and Wales.\\n\\nOur client works across a broad range of sectors, including residential, commercial, education, healthcare, transport, defence, and energy. Experience in one or more of these sectors would be beneficial.\\n\\nResponsibilities\\n\\n * \\n\\n Developing a clear understanding of project briefs and client requirements.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Design and specification of complete electrical building services systems, including power, earthing, lighting, life safety systems, telecommunications, security, access control, lifts, and lightning protection.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Producing and managing the delivery of detailed engineering calculations using industry-standard software such as Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and in-house tools.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Preparing technical specifications using NBS.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Working collaboratively with international delivery teams to add value to building services projects where appropriate.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Coordinating with the BIM team to support the production of models and drawings, with a working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Undertaking site surveys, inspections, and monitoring on-site works.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Preparing technical reports and written documentation.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Maintaining accurate project records and archives in line with company procedures.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Adhering to all quality, environmental, and governance processes.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Managing personal workload effectively, keeping forward workload plans up to date and working within agreed time allocations.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Managing elements of project delivery with an understanding of cost and budget constraints.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Monitoring progress and reporting any scope changes, risks, or anomalies to the project lead.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Supporting the technical development and mentoring of junior team members.\\n\\nRequirements\\n\\n * \\n\\n Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Chartered Engineer status with CIBSE or IET preferred.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Strong IT skills, including experience with Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft Office; experience with HV tools is advantageous.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Knowledge of energy efficiency measures and decarbonisation strategies for new and existing buildings.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Understanding of energy and carbon data capture and performance analysis.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Awareness of building physics principles, including passive design and fabric-first approaches.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Competence in design for measurement and verification, including commissioning and post-installation performance evaluation.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Essential experience working within a design consultancy and/or contractor-led design environment.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Strong knowledge of relevant technical standards and regulations.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Ability to take ownership of deliverables, make decisions, and work proactively using own initiative.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to clients and attending meetings.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Comfortable working within agreed timeframes and cost budgets established at project outset.\\n\\n * \\n\\n Willingness to undertake additional reasonable duties as required to support business needs
