Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Principal Safety Case Consultant to be engaged on a permanent basis in West Cumbria or Warrington. An opportunity for an experienced nuclear safety professional to take a leading role in safety-critical, highly regulated projects. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic influence, supporting the safe operation, decommissioning, and future development of nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, assessment, and review of nuclear safety cases.
- Apply hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical leadership across a varied project portfolio, from short studies to multi-year programmes.
- Act as a trusted technical authority with clients and regulators.
- Lead the production and assurance of high-quality safety case documentation and technical reports.
- Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level consultants.
- Contribute to project governance, proposal development, and client relationship management.
Essential Experience
- Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Substantial experience in nuclear safety case development or assessment.
- Strong understanding of nuclear regulatory frameworks and safety management principles.
- Ability to communicate complex safety arguments clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Chartered status or working toward chartership is desirable.
