Radioactive Waste Manager
About the role:
Westinghouse Environmental Services UK is seeking an early career professional to join the radioactive waste team. The team works across the NDA estate, and we aim to expand our resource and expertise across our portfolio of work.
You should have a scientific background, either through a formal degree or equivalent relevant experience. Experience in the nuclear industry is desirable but not essential. We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals eager to start a career in the industry. The role is based at Springfields Fuels near Preston.
You will report to the Principal Waste Manager and be located at Springfield.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the production of technical documentation for project work, including radioactive waste management strategies, characterisation, DQO, and BAT.
- Assist with bid work and proposals.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops, including recording minutes.
- Interact with clients and peers to facilitate work and present results.
- Experience of working with nuclear clients in the UK and internationally is advantageous.
- Develop personal career pathways and undertake development activities.
- Support radiation protection activities within the team.
- Assess radioactive waste treatment methods and processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
- Strong maths and literacy skills.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Desire to engage with and grow contacts within the industry.
- Ability to obtain security clearance as required.
- Full UK Driving License.
