About the Role

As a Programme Manager, you will work under the guidance of the Head of Projects, responsible for the delivery and project‑management requirements of a Programme or Portfolio of Projects.

You will report to the Senior Programme Manager and be located at Westlakes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and coordinate the team's activities to manage and implement projects and/or interrelated projects from initiation to final closure.
  • Determine, monitor and review all project economics, including costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk.
  • Identify and assemble the appropriate blend of resources to meet the Programme or Portfolio's needs and requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, monitor and report on activities related to the Programme/Portfolio.
  • Adhere to the established Project Management processes and governance arrangements, ensuring this is cascaded throughout the projects that make up the Programme/Portfolio.
  • Ensure QA arrangements are in place to provide assurance that reporting and adherence to Management Systems is robust.
  • Undertake status review meetings among project teams that form the Programme/Portfolio under your oversight, advising the Head of Projects on matters of escalation, major concerns, risks, and opportunities.
  • Control project requirements, scope and change‑management issues (including approval of contract variations and early warnings within appropriate levels of authority).
  • Actively promote learning from experience and continuous improvement, working with the Head of Projects to identify and embed improvements.
  • Work closely with the Programme/Portfolio's Customer Account Manager to identify, develop and maintain a pipeline of work, including maintaining appropriate relationships within client, partner and supply‑chain organisations and setting delivery/execution strategies at RFQ/ITT stages for new opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 or more years of applicable project‑management experience.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, such as effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to lead and direct complex team structures.
  • Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders in upper‑management positions and client organisations.
  • Analytical problem‑solving, establishing facts and making complex decisions with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to drive change in working practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
