Your Day-to-Day:
- Responsible for the development of EC&I drawings: Block Cable Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams etc.
- Production of cable calculations by hand or in Amtech and lighting calculations in Dialux/Relux.
- Checking of others work ensuring that design deliverables are produced to a high standard and compliant with all relevant internal and client procedures.
- Production of technical documents such as Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, Method Statements etc.
- Take ownership of design deliverables throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operations and decommissioning phases of a project and ensure that the Design Intent is maintained.
- Produce and check CDM Risk Registers.
- Produce and check documentation required for Technical Files of new products / plant and equipment.
- Presentation of technical solutions to clients and others in both formal and informal settings, allowing for a broad range of technical knowledge in any audience.
- Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs.
- Support in the development of project safety case including HAZID and HAZOP attendance, production of basis of safety documents (Hazard Management Strategy) and engineering substantiation (design/engineering justification).
- Develop estimates, deliverables required and programme logic at bid/tender stage, whilst also providing input into cost to complete.
- Manage a team of engineers/designers to deliver the engineering scope as required by the project.
- Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company’s capabilities.
- Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations.
- Producing and assessing concessions and technical queries.
- Preparing and reviewing quality plans for single discipline work packages.
Who You Are:
- At least 5+ years’ experience in industry - of which at least 2 years at Engineer level - nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
- Chartered Member of the IET (preferred).
- Must be legally eligible to work in the UK.
- Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied.
- Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of EC&I design.
- Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment.
- Experience of design in accordance with the IET 18th edition (BS7671).
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of CAE packages.
- Ability to undertake technical tasks and also disclose their technical limitations.
- Able to work independently without direct supervision.
- Willingness to mentor more junior engineers and designers.
- Work effectively in a team.
- Ability to work well with all levels of management, executive leadership and support staff.
- A professional attitude and a ‘can do’ approach to problem solving.
- Ability to identify discipline-related design changes and assess their commercial impacts.
- Ability to motivate others.
- Able to produce documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented.
- Reinforces nuclear professionalism, and in particular Health, Safety and Environment Standards.
- Actively promotes a positive delivery focused culture where exceeding Client expectations is the norm.
