The Assistant, Payroll is responsible for supporting the end-to-end payroll process by collecting, reviewing, and submitting data inputs, computing wages and deductions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing, leading analysis of issue resolution, and facilitating compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Your Day to Day:
- Preparing and processing inputs for weekly and/or bi-weekly payrolls
- Reviewing payroll outputs and reports for accuracy
- Maintaining and updating employee records including tax and other relevant information
- Collaborating with teams doing data entry to triage discrepancies and ensure payroll impacting data is accurate
- Responding to employee inquiries regarding payslips, earnings, deductions, and taxes
- Calculating and processing payroll checks or electronic transfers of funds
- Detecting and resolving payroll discrepancies quickly and accurately
- Recording, verifying, and reconciling payroll-related information
- Staying apprised of and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations
- Perform additional assignments, as directed by management
Who You Are:
- Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Human Resources
- 2+ years of payroll experience with an Associate's Degree or in lieu of an Associate's degree 4+ years of payroll experience
- Payroll Assistants must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills. They must be able to interact well with clients and colleagues, work well in a team, and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Additionally, they should be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Advanced Excel skills are preferred as is prior SAP and/or ADP experience.
- Prior experience processing union payrolls is also a plus.
