Our client, a well-established and expanding Main Contractor, is seeking an Assistant Estimator to join their Pre-Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their estimating career, gain exposure to a wide variety of construction projects and work alongside experienced Estimators and construction professionals. This role would suit candidates with experience in construction, estimating, quantity surveying support, construction administration or pre-construction who are keen to progress within a commercially focused environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within construction, estimating, pre-construction or a related environment
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and numerical ability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
- Full UK Driving Licence
The Role
- Assisting with the preparation of construction tenders and budgets
- Reviewing tender documents, drawings and project specifications
- Undertaking quantity take-offs from construction drawings
- Preparing Bills of Quantities
- Issuing enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers
- Obtaining, analysing and comparing quotations
- Assisting with tender submissions and bid documentation
- Supporting post-tender activities and project handovers
- Maintaining subcontractor and supplier databases
- Attending site visits where required
- Providing administrative support to the estimating and pre-construction team
