Westholme School is seeking a passionate and dedicated KS1 Class Teacher to join our Primary team.

Position Details

  • Hours: 1.0 FTE
  • Contract: Fixed Term Maternity Cover – ending 24 March 2027
  • Starting Date: September 2026
  • Closing Date: Friday 8 May 2026 at 9am

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality teaching and learning experiences to children aged 5‑7.
  • Create a supportive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
  • Plan engaging lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Apply effective assessment strategies and monitor pupil progress.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Contribute to the wider co‑curricular and community life of the school.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified teacher status or equivalent qualification suitable for primary education.
  • Strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Basic knowledge of assessment strategies within primary education.
  • Willingness to teach the full range of primary subjects and to work with any Key Stage 1 year group.
  • Excellent track record and flexibility, experience and confidence to teach any year groups throughout Key Stage.
